3 Ways to Add Color Coordination to Your Lip Balm Display

Walk down almost any personal care aisle, and the display that stops shoppers mid-stride is rarely the one in whites and grays. It’s the one designed with a little intention, sorted by shade or theme, and clearly designed with a fresh, fun take. Now you just have to apply that to your lip balm display. If your store already carries vegan lip balm, a small rearrangement might be the easiest marketing tactic to make the balms get even more attention.

Front Counter: A Fun, Colorful Display

Near the register, an impulse-buy product has only a few seconds to catch the eye, and a little visual variety outperforms a perfectly matched row. Colorful labels on a uniquely shaped tube will give shoppers something to look at and consider. It turns a slow moment at checkout into one more item in the bag. Put the most visually striking color closest to where customers stand the longest in line at the register, and they’ll naturally look at the other flavors nearby.

Aisle Display: Neat and Orderly Rainbow Shades

Mid-aisle shelving will work a little differently. Shoppers near the shelf display are in that aisle for a reason, so you want the lip balm display to feel easy to see and navigate. Don’t hide the best flavors on the bottom shelf. This is where a genuine color story earns its keep: a vegetarian tinted lip balm line, arranged by shade from sheer to deep (with true lip color at the end), gives customers a visual shortcut straight to the tint they are after. You can put the untinted flavors on one end, and the highly pigmented ones on the other, like a rainbow of color or a fun ombré take.

Seasonal Display: Colors That Align with the Season

The change of seasons gives you a reason to adjust your lip balm display. As summer eases into cooler, drier air, warmer tube tones and citrus-leaning flavors can move front and center because they look pretty and their colors align with the new season. Don’t worry, though. That broad-spectrum, moisturizing SPF15 lip balm with a black label will stay in rotation. Not only does UV exposure continue into cooler months, but a black label with orange letters feels very fall-coded anyway.

Take a more deliberate look at how flavors, tints, and seasonal favorites sit side by side on your shelves and in your displays. After all, you’re allowed to have a little fun with the displays.
